As is, the NEC Turbografx-16 outputs only RF. This kit consists of 2 components that will upgrade the console to output RGB. As part of the install, the RF port will be replaced with a Sega Genesis 2 9 pin miniDIN port that will enable the following outputs:

• composite video
• RGB
• Component Video (using HD Retrovision cables or similar RGB to component encoders)

A comprehensive install includes the following:

• Replace the RF only port with a Sega Genesis 2 9 pin miniDIN port
• Enable all the pins on the port to have the same electrical characteristics as a real Sega Genesis 2 (standard Genesis cables will work)
• Install RGB amp
• Install stereo audio amp - multi I/O port on the back does no output line level audio, requiring older mods to increase the volume on the TV to max to hear anything. This amp will fix this
• replace 2 ceramic capacitors on the board to remove jailbars in video output

NOTE(S):

• A Turbografx-16 system must be provided in good working condition
• RGB amp, audio amp, 9 pin miniDIN port are all provided as part of this install
• NEW FOR 2026: CD audio from a connected CD-ROM2 or EverDrive PRO now passes through the audio out pins.
