Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most frequent questions we've gotten over the years from our customers. If you have a specific question and it's not answered below, contact us and we'll promptly get back to you.
Q: I see prices listed next to the services offered here, but no way to purchase them. How does one acquire your services?
A: The purpose of this website is to showcase some of the more popular services we offer. Each service has specific requirements that are specified on this website. The typical process looks like this:
- you decide what service you require and contact us
- you get the system to us
- if applicable, you also supply the system upgrade kit
- we do all the work and e-mail you when done
- you pay for the service and get the system back from us
There are a couple of important things that has always been a part of our philosophy:
- You don't pay until the work is done
- If we can't fix it, you don't pay
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are based in Toronto, Canada. More specifically, downtown Toronto on the Danforth (if you are familiar with the GTA) Yet we service all communities from coast to coast. As such, all prices listed on this website are in Canadian dollars.
Q: What's the best way to get the system to / from you?
A: If you are located in the Greater Toronto Area, you can always drop off and pickup the system in person. If you are not, you can ship the system to us. Prices on this website do not include the cost of return shipping.
Q: How do I pay for your services?
A: When the work is done and we provide you a quote for the service, you have multiple options. If you're in Canada, you can pay via eTransfer/Interac money transfer directly from your bank account; this is the cheapest way to do it, and for most Canadians, there is no fee associated with this sort of payment. We also accept PayPal.
Q: I'm not in Canada, can you still help me?
A: While our main focus is to help the Canadian market, we have helped retro game enthusiasts from around the world over the years. The actual process is still the same as written above. The biggest difference to you would be the added expense of return shipping. Also, we still charge the same amount (in Canadian dollars) converted from your local currency. For international orders, the best way to pay is via PayPal; as always, pay only when the work is done and we are ready to ship back to you.
Q: What is the best way to reach you?
A: Contact us here or send us a direct e-mail (leonki@gmail.com). You can also find me on Twitter.
Q: I have a console not listed on this web site. Can you help me fix it?
A: Over the years, we've worked on hundred of consoles and computers ranging from the mid-70's to the early 2000's. Chances are that if you own it, we've probably worked on it. We showcase here our most popular services but there's so much more we're able to do. If you have a specific need with fixing, restoring or modernizing a retro video game device than contact us directly via e-mail and we'll do our best to help you out.
Q: I have a modern console that's broken. Can you help me fix it?
A: Our focus has always been with helping the retro enthusiasts. As such, at this time, we will not be taking on work fixing modern video game consoles. This includes Microsoft consoles made after the original XBOX, Sony products made after the PS2 and Nintendo products made after the Wii. In addition, we don't work on any smartphones or tablet devices.
Q: Have you really been doing this for over 20 years?
A: Yes, we've been an active member of the retro video game community since the 1990's. You can read more about our journey to get here in the About Us page.
